discipline

A boy was flying a kite with his father and asked him what kept the kite up.
 Dad replied, "The string."
The boy said, "Dad, it is the string that is holding the kite down."
The father asked his son to watch as he broke the string.
Guess what happened to the kite? It came down. Isn't that true in life?
Sometimes the very things that we think are holding us down are the things that are helping us fly. That is what discipline is all about.

......and make it a disciplined week ahead.

Hatred

A kindergarten teacher decided to let her class play a game.
The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes.

Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates.

So the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.

So when the day came, each child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes; some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bag wherever they go (even to the toilet) for 1 week.

Days after days passed by, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended...
The teacher asked: "How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?". The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they go.

Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: "This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart. The stench of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go. If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime???"

 Moral of the story:
Throw away any hatred for anyone from your heart so that you will not carry sins for a lifetime.
Forgiving others is the best attitude to take!

Apathy

Opposite of Love is not HATE, Opposite of love is apathy. Hate is just love gone bad.

many a times we feel hatred towards our fellow being, its just because we like them but are not able to accept them the way they are.

there are only two possible solution to the problem , either change them..

or just start adjusting to their nature.

Apathy is having no feeling whatsoever for the person , this happens when the person falls below our hatred level. Its bad that a person hates you but its worse if the person has a apathetic feeling towards you.

a potter fan would just say '“Apathy is a sort of living oblivion.”'

Lost in oblivion, devoid of emotions
Sadness inexplicable and feelings senseless
Dreams shattered and people left
A sense of apathy persists
Self realization has took it's toll
The vision is blank and future looks bleak
So cold and desolate, a superficial robot
That cries out for help inside
No guilt, No conscience, No worries
Nothing, but nothingness remains

He pondered his life and the things he would change if given the opportunity.  There was his lack of education, his uninspiring job, and of course his troubled marriage.  These thoughts ran through his head several times a day, especially in the evening hours, before drifting off to sleep.  He never took much responsibility for the things that went wrong in his life.  Inevitably, someone else was always to blame.  But how…how could he change things?  Surely, there must be a way.  This thought pounded his brain during his last few minutes of wakefulness, as he buried himself beneath the covers, finally closing his eyes…too apathetic to give a damn.. . . .

Luck

'fortune favors the brave' and lucky are those who have the courage of taking risk.
Its not that every risk has success, but when you keep throwing, somewhere its gonna hit. Who knows what, but many a times, the pleasure of aiming for a target is enough to satisfy. and there is a possibility it may HIT.but where were we ...
yep Luck..
well there are many types of luck
first is called beginners luck, that is you succeed at the first attempt.
but if you fail and have the courage to attempt for a second time and  succeed that means most probably you deserve it.
then, there is a thing called 'third time lucky' and that what i feel is the ability to get up twice after falling and fight back.

then there are other types of luck
where in you were not winning and suddenly just because you failed a lot of times , your success is termed as lucky.
what people see is the work done, but actually what important is force applied.
The internal satisfaction that we need comes from effort and not the result.

But most often then not, luck is BAD. This is a very interesting phenomenon and strikes every human  on daily basis.
the human tendency to categorize the success of others as their luck and our failures as bad luck is the most notable feature of narrow mind.
the broader perspective and hence a  moral from this discussion would be to work hard and not to poke nose in others matter.

Luck is not chance --
It's Toil --
Fortune's expensive smile
 Is earned --
The Father of the Mine
Is that old-fashioned Coin
We spurned --

while i write this i want to add that
life is short
live it
who knows what might happen tomorrow,
and after all
20-12-2012 is near.
enjoy

Note:
Update (28/7/13) , Its month past the predicted doomsday and now every one can happily say that it was just the end of scroll that kept Mayans from making further calendar. The issue at hand though remains the same, there is no point in living a dumb life, better keep moving.

Friend in need is friend indeed

I always felt the story about two friends who have an encounter with bear, where one friend tries to save himself by climbing the tree and other saves himself by acting dead actually gives a negative meaning to the saying.

I was in my second year and it was end of the term. The course work comprised of five subjects, of which Logic Circuit was one. The term-work file of LC was about 200 pages thick and just a day before submission, my file got misplaced. (lets assume it to be misplaced by my act of laziness or my sloppy practices. Though I think someone took it by mistake and discovered it much latter enough to be afraid to confess. Few thought it was stolen to take revenge, but I never till then I presume was in bad book of someone to make him pull such a dirty stunt on me. And to be fair and not quote UJFW(viral) would be such a shame, He devised a theory that I did it to make myself popular, well opinions are matter of perspective and better not dissected for mere discussion.)

I was never a white collared student, not even remotely in position where I could expect teachers to support me. I did try though, but the concerned lecturer made it clear that he required the file up-to-date the subsequent day before 5pm.

200 plus pages in a day were by no means, a human task and I was foolish enough to hope that a classmate would find my file at their residence and story would end there. Next day I reached early at the class and personally asked everyone if I were lucky enough for my file to at their abode. Dejected by the fact that the only way possible through this is to write entire file again, I walked to the dais of our class and made a last attempt of asking if anyone had seen my file. The tension on my brain was huge and ache in my forehead acutely described it. I cloud feel the rise in temperature at my neck and back of ears. Somehow I could smell my fear too (though now I have a feeling they are some kind of pheromones). The heart was beating so fast, that it felt like it was beating at base of my neck.

'guys, you know.... I have lost my LC file..... has some one seen it ?'

My plea was cut short by Nidhi , who said, 'give us the pages, and we'll help you write'

Her tone was not just a confidence builder for me but also encouraged our fellow classmate to join my cause. As the luck would go, I had forgotten my wallet at home and had to borrow money from Viral and Nico (Ghansham Rajmachikar). When I returned with pages, the trio of Viral, Niko and Hema were not to be seen. As I sat on my desk to start, the task of distribution was taken up by 'Priti' and with her efficiency, by 11am I had all the experiment write-up complete.

When Priti (another Patel) took care of my experiment write-up, a friend from previous year, who some how got distanced from me, came, bowed and asked, 'what can I do for you sir?'

Had it not been for anxiety and apprehension, I would have been a bit emotional with that dialogue. But then, I had exhibited at different instance in life that I have emotional range of ladle, if not a teaspoon.

'Sharad' along with few other, completed my assignments and by 12 noon, my file was complete. The lecturer was obviously not vivacious about the effort, but did appreciate the spirit of my classmates.

so, well you can concluded that, friends in need are friends indeed !

All I can do is hope that I dont fail them in their need.

List of friends, (with their original name, in alphabetical order), without whom, the day would have ended on a sadder note.
